From the 1920s to the 1940s, Louis Armstrong, Muddy Waters, Albert King, Memphis Minnie, B. B. King, Rufus Thomas, Rosco Gordon and other blues and jazz legends played on Beale Street and helped develop the style known as Memphis Blues. 

While in Memphis, make sure not to miss the barbecue. Memphis Tennessee considers itself to be the barbecue capital of the world and it works hard to earn that title! Good barbecue can be found all over this town, but if you want to try the best, you have to try Charlie Vergos’ Rendezvous, or as locals call it, The Vous. The Vous has been serving its signature memphis-style barbecue since 1948 and its flavorful dry-rubbed ribs can’t be beat. Travel nursing provides a great opportunity for foodies to try all kinds of delicious food in every place but, the barbecue in Tennessee has a reputation for being the best for a reason!

If you are looking for some physical activity and adventure on a day off, the Mammoth Cave National Park is an incredible place of natural wonder about an hour and a half North of Nashville in Kentucky. Mammoth Cave is the world’s longest known cave system with more than 420 miles of surveyed passageways. The National Park Service offers several cave tours to visitors. Some notable features of the cave, such as Grand Avenue, Frozen Niagara, and Fat Man’s Misery, can be seen on lighted tours ranging from one to six hours in length. The Cave is not only an incredible geographical feature but also packed full of fascinating history reaching all the way back to prehistoric times. This is a must-see place for the adventurer or history fan.
